McCandlish Holton Attorneys Obtain Defense Verdict for Global Warehouse Retailer

Matthew Haynes and Brennan Morrissett obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a global warehouse retailer following a two day jury trial in the United States District Court in Baltimore, Maryland.

Arising out of a suspected shoplifting incident, the suit initially involved counts for assault, battery, false arrest, malicious prosecution, negligence and loss of consortium. Plaintiff sought compensatory as well as punitive damages.

The Court granted a motion for summary judgment on all but the false arrest and malicious prosecution claims, which then proceeded to trial.

At the conclusion of the trial, the jury reached its decision in less than five minutes, finding the defendant not liable on either remaining claims.
