Eva is a Director in the Litigation Practice Group. Eva’s practice focuses on representing employers and insurance carriers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims in Virginia. She defends employers and carriers throughout the entire litigation process, including hearings, mediations, and appellate work before the Full Commission, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court of Virginia. She regularly advises clients on defense strategies, including compensability analysis and settlement recommendations.

Eva represents employers in a wide variety of industries, including transportation, construction, and healthcare. Clients appreciate how responsive and skillful Eva is when working on their claims.

Eva’s passion for workers’ compensation law began when she worked as a Litigation Paralegal at McCandlish Holton prior to enrolling in law school. Before her return as an Associate, she gained practical knowledge and experience through internships at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia and the Central Virginia Capital Defender Office.

Eva earned her J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law, gaining practical experience at The Innocence Clinic, where she represented inmates claiming actual innocence by investigating innocence claims and litigating post-conviction motions.

Eva fosters greyhounds for James River Greyhounds/Greyt Love Retirement, and volunteers for Richmond Animal Care & Control.

  • McJilton v. Accomack County Public Schools, JCN VA02000032457 (Dec. 3, 2020)
    • Successfully defended claim alleging an injury to the back was a result of an alleged slip and fall on a defective floor. Obtained evidence through investigation establishing that the injury did not occur as alleged, and the medical evidence failed to corroborate the claimant’s version of events.
  • Bright v. Portsmouth Public Schools, JCN 1283943 (Apr. 22, 2020)
    • Obtained favorable opinion regarding a claimant’s attempt to establish a surgery was related to the compensable work injury on the ground that the referral to the provider that performed the surgery was an accommodation.
  • Hudson v. 21 Enterprise Leasing Co. of Norfolk/Richmond, JCNs VA00001490428, VA00001556792 (Nov. 8, 2019)
  • Cannon v. Versability Resources, Inc., Record No. 1849-18-1 (Va. Ct. App. June 18, 2019)
    • Successfully defended claim by bus driver who sustained injuries when involved in a single-vehicle accident on the ground that the accident was unexplained.
