McCandlish Holton attorneys Michael R. Ward and Audra M. Dickens recently successfully defended a national restaurant franchise in a slip-and-fall case during a two-day jury trial in Chesterfield County Circuit Court. Liability and damages were both contested.
Plaintiff claimed the restaurant failed to warn her of the floor’s wet conditions, yet the surveillance video showed the plaintiff standing next to an employee mopping the floor, walking past a wet floor sign, and then falling within a couple of feet of a yellow caution sign.
Plaintiff sued for $750,000. The jury deliberated for just thirty minutes before returning a defense verdict.
