Brian is an Associate in the Litigation Practice Group and is based in our Roanoke, Virginia office. His practice is primarily focused in the area of workers’ compensation, but also includes general and product liability, business transactions and litigation, and criminal defense.
As a workers’ compensation attorney, Brian regularly advises employers and insurance carriers on strategies to defend and resolve claims. Brian often provides guidance with regards to lien considerations involving third parties, child support, and Medicare, and regularly facilitates settlement of matters that involve such concerns. Brian handles all aspects of litigation, settlement, appeal, and mediation of workers’ compensation and matters.
Brian has extensive litigation experience in workers’ compensation and general liability matters, including both bench and jury trials. He has tried cases in the Workers’ Compensation Commission, the State Corporation Commission, General District Courts, Circuit Courts and US District Courts. Brian has handled appellate matters in the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Arkansas Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court. Before joining McCandlish Holton, Brian was in solo practice for seven years, during which time he handled a broad range of matters, including workers’ compensation, general liability, product liability, domestic relations, divorce, business transactions, litigation and criminal defense.
