Tom is Chairman and founding member of the firm. He is also head of the Health Care Team and the International Department, including the firm's China Practice.

Tom is past Chairman of the Council of the Health Law Section of the Virginia State Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Governors for the International Law Section and the Health Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. He currently serves on the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Board of Visitors.

Tom lectures on International Business and Law at the VCU School of Business and at VCU's Fast Track MBA Program. He previously served as Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Care Law at the University of Richmond. Tom is a frequent lecturer and author on a variety of international trade and investment issues and on health care law.

Tom has been included in Woodward/White Inc.'s The Best Lawyers in America® for over 10 years. He was also selected as a Virginia Super Lawyer in 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009. From 2002-2005, Tom served on the Virginia Asian Advisory Board. He is a member of the Society of International Business Fellows. Tom speaks French, and has a rudimentary knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.
