Jamie, a partner in McCandlish Holton’s Health Care Practice Group, represents health care providers in regulatory, transactional, and antitrust matters.
She maintains an extensive Certificate of Public Need practice, representing applicants in all stages of COPN review. Jamie advises hospitals and physician groups on all aspects of their operations, from corporate and transactional matters to employment negotiations to licensure and reimbursement issues. She represents physicians and hospitals in joint ventures, helping clients navigate the numerous state and federal laws and regulations that address financial relationships among providers. Jamie also maintains a health care-focused government relations practice, monitoring legislative activity and advocating for clients on legislation before the Virginia General Assembly.
Jamie has consistently been recognized by her peers for her work in healthcare law. She was recognized by Virginia Business as one of the “Legal Elite” in Health Care Law in 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2007 and in Regulatory Law in 2004. She was selected as a Virginia Super Lawyer for 2006 and 2007 by Richmond Magazine. Jamie was named one of 25 Women Virginia Super Lawyers in 2007, the youngest attorney to achieve that honor. She has been included in the 2005 through 2008 editions of The Best Lawyers in America. In 2002, Jamie was honored by Inside Business magazine as one of the “Top 40 under 40”, an award presented to young leaders in Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area.
Jamie is active in the community, serving as pro bono counsel to the International Hospital for Children, Hope for Humanity, and Wesley United Methodist Community Child Care Center in Charlottesville. She has served as Co-Chair of the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association Public Service Committee and Secretary for the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association. Jamie is a member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Health Law Section and the Virginia State Bar’s Health Law and Antitrust Sections.
Prior to joining the firm, Jamie served as a judicial clerk to the Supreme Court of Virginia. At the University of Virginia School of Law, Jamie was a Dillard Legal Writing Fellow and received the Daniel Rosenbloom Award for academic assistance to fellow students. Before entering law school, Jamie was a legislative assistant for health care issues in the United States House of Representatives.
