Helen is a director in the Immigration Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on employment-based and professional immigration, with emphasis on:
- Visa issues for physicians
- J-Waivers
- H-1B Visas for high-tech and professional personnel
- PERM green cards
- National Interest Waivers

- Outstanding researcher/professor immigration issues
- Multi-national Manager and Executive Visas and Green Cards
- University-based immigration for students, researchers and professors
- Employer sanctions
- I-9 Compliance
- Visas for teachers in public and private schools
Helen has guided numerous clients through I-9 and Department of Labor audits, and provides comprehensive I-9 training to HR professionals. She is also a member of the National Task Force of the American Immigration Lawyers Association for issues specific to J visas, and provides critical expertise in this complex area. She has spoken, by invitation, at regional and national meetings of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA), and to numerous other national organizations, on immigration issues significant to university communities and employers. She also publishes immigration updates for national trade organization publications.
She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Publications and Activities
- Helen spoke to the Richmond Medical Group Managers Association regarding immigration issues of which employers should be aware, even if they do not hire foreign nationals. The discussion focused on I-9 processing for new hires, including e-verify and SSN matches, as well as citizen status discrimination.
