Sam is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Finance, Health Care, and Business Practice Groups.  He advises clients on a wide variety of matters, focusing his practice on a range of business and commercial real estate transactions across the United States and abroad.  Sam counsels and represents an array of individuals, business entities and real estate developers.

Some of his recent transactions include business acquisitions, sales of medical practices, venture capital financings, private equity financings, commercial lender financings (including single-lender and conduit loans), construction contracting and financing of medical office buildings, commercial leasing and formation, and the financing and construction of residential, commercial and mixed-use condominiums.

Before joining the firm, Sam worked as a CPA and business consultant with a Big Six public accounting firm for more than eight years.  In that capacity, he provided audit and business consulting services to public and private companies in numerous industries, including manufacturing, distribution, not-for-profit, and energy.  Sam has worked with clients on SEC reporting issues, including initial public offerings, and acquisition-related due diligence.  Additionally, he has experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program, which provides tax incentives for the rehabilitation of qualifying residential and commercial properties.

At the University of Richmond School of Law, Sam served on the University of Richmond Law Review, and worked in the University of Richmond Children’s Law Center, where he provided pro bono legal representation to minors in the juvenile court system.  He is actively involved in the community, having served in various positions on the boards of directors of community associations for more than twelve years.  Sam holds a CPA license in addition to a real estate sales license.  He is a member of the American Bar Association (Business Law Section), the Richmond Bar Association (Business Law Section), the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPA’s, and the Virginia Society of CPA’s.
