Mike Gladstone is a member of McCandlish Holton's Litigation Practice Group, where he counsels the firm’s clients on matters related to civil litigation in injury and damages cases, commercial disputes, immigration consequences of criminal actions, and employment issues raised by immigration law. Mike has experience in all aspects of litigation, including matters involving immigration/removal, worksite enforcement, personal injury and property damage, insurance and coverage, commercial matters, trucking, and product liability. His product liability experience includes a focus on industrial machinery, warnings and labels, product development and introduction, and associated commercial issues. He obtained the first post-Kumho Tire exclusion of an Accident Reconstruction Expert in a trucking matter. He has substantial experience in the trial of catastrophic fire cases. He has extensive trial experience in the State and Federal Courts in Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland.
Mike is a frequent speaker to university, civic, trade and industry groups on immigration issues. He has written and presented extensively on civil litigation topics including trucking and transportation issues, and expert witness practice in state and federal courts. He has spoken in Great Britain and Germany on U.S. immigration and product liability.
Mike is admitted to practice in all Virginia courts, the U.S. District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He was named one of Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite in 2005 and 2006 in Immigration/Naturalization law and a Virginia Super Lawyer in 2009. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 2008.
- Mike is a member of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Counsel, and the Association of Transportation Law Professionals. He is the 2009-2010 President of the Montpelier Center for Arts & Education. He is fluent in German.
