Jeremy is a member of the firm's Health Care and Litigation practice groups. His health care practice includes representation of hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician practice groups, and individual health care professionals in a variety of administrative, transactional, employment, and litigation matters. Jeremy’s litigation practice extends beyond health care providers, including representation of corporate and individual clients in a wide range of business disputes. Advice regarding Virginia licensure of health care facilities
Review of health care transactions for compliance with federal and state statutes governing fraud and abuse, including the “Stark” law and Federal Anti-Kickback Statute
Drafting and negotiating physician employment and shareholder agreements
Administrative and judicial appeals related to Medicare/Medicaid payment and certification
Judicial appeals of state regulatory decisions arising under Virginia’s Administrative Process Act
Litigation of business tort cases involving claims such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortuous interference, and violation of covenants not to compete
Litigation of disputes arising out of the Virginia Public Procurement Act
Jeremy’s varied experience in corporate health care, litigation, and administrative and regulatory matters gives him a unique perspective for advising clients who wish to avoid future disputes, as well as those who find themselves unexpectedly faced with a lawsuit.
Jeremy is a member of the Virginia Bar Association (Health Law and Litigation Sections) and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to joining McCandlish Holton, Jeremy served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. His assignments as a Judge Advocate included professor of law at the Judge Advocate General's School, criminal defense counsel, prosecuting attorney, administrative law attorney, and legal assistance attorney. Jeremy's experience as a Judge Advocate includes litigating military courts-martial, advising the Army on a wide range of complex legal issues, and representing individual clients in all areas of personal legal affairs.
